These businesses get hired to make revenue software actually work in a company, not just sell it. That means configuring a CRM or marketing automation platform such as HubSpot or Dynamics 365, migrating existing customer and deal data into it without losing history, building the pipelines, forms, workflows and integrations that connect it to a website, ad accounts or finance system, and training the sales and marketing teams who have to use it every day. Many of them also do the surrounding work that makes an implementation stick — rebuilding a website to match the new lead-capture setup, writing the email sequences and content that feed the automation, or running the first campaigns through the new system so it's proven before the internal team takes over.

People end up here because they've bought a platform and it isn't doing what the sales pitch promised. Leads sit in a CRM nobody trusts, marketing and sales use different definitions of a qualified lead, reporting takes a day to assemble because data lives in three disconnected tools, or an in-house attempt at setup stalled halfway through and now nobody wants to touch it. Sometimes it's simpler: a company is switching CRMs, adding a new business unit, or has grown past the point where a spreadsheet and a shared inbox count as a sales process, and needs someone who has done this migration before to do it properly the first time.

Approaches split mainly along one line: platform specialists who live inside a single certified partner ecosystem and know its quirks in depth, versus broader marketing or digital agencies who treat implementation as one part of a wider engagement covering strategy, content and campaigns. The first group tends to be faster and more technically precise on complex configurations and large data migrations; the second is a better fit when the real goal is generating pipeline, not just standing up software cleanly. Worth comparing directly: their certification level and tier with the platform vendor, whether they've handled a migration at your data volume before, what happens after go-live (a handoff document versus an ongoing support retainer), and whether they price the project fixed-scope or time and materials — the latter is common but makes cost overruns on messy legacy data a real risk worth asking about upfront.
